On December 9th 2023 Yashwantrao Chavan Centre Mumbai celebrated the international day of persons with disability. When I entered the auditorium I was mesmerized by the spirit of musical instruments ,flute and casio which were played by two talented musicians. Blindness was more densely understood as disability but I saw a fusion of diversity in music. Mind Blowing sound of flute and golden era of bollywood music ,songs took me to the retro theater.
I was invited for the event to play a small role for the upliftment program. I was one of the panelist ,being a writer what are the challenges I came across I shared with audience, I was proud of myself being Autistic person but disappointed by special needs with blind who are multi talented with different abilities but still they are struggling to get job, for me it’s not an easy task to go out and work in office but other differently abled people can do it without any social anxieties, every human being has abilities to work , live life with respect earning their bread. I think every music industry should make an open platform for good singers, musicians with differently abled people. They should reserve some posts for blind and other differently abled people. Reading my article may change your mindset , feeling with little light of hope I am requesting the government to think about this for differently abled people. There may be such reservations already in our democracy but accessibility is not in vision ,action.

“Vision is not what we see from our eyes, Vision is seeing what reality is Insight ” eyes are blind if we fail to see people’s Insight”.

Right from the day I came to know that I was one of the panelist in that event I did my preparation with these points in mind..

  1. When lights are ON thoughts are blurry so avoid facing lights on stage.
  2. People will visit my stall but don’t purchase books for reading but they may buy to show sympathy .
  3. Walls are too big to destroy your future but your positive attitude is what makes you a successful person.
  4. Sensory overloadness is part of my life but it will not disturb my future goals, when goals are stronger than challenges we dream of demonstrating our strengths.
  5. Training my tummy for getting adjust with outside food .
  6. Traveling and motion sickness is inevitable ,training the mind saying “All Is Well ” is the mantra for fear.
  7. Since it was our first visit to Mumbai so we should enjoy sightseeing and every special moment we have to capture
  8. Yashwantrao Chavan Centre is giving me this opportunity to speak up for my knowledge so I should be more conscious with my thoughts.
  9. Stimming is more a stereotype behavior for others but for me it is self regulating behavior so people may stare at me but it will not lose my identity as a writer.

When I sat on the chair I was a little nervous because I always sit with my legs up on the chair so leaving my legs down and sitting for more than one hour was difficult but I did it, I was holding my fidgeting tool to control social anxiety. There was silence when I was answering through the letterboard . People were inspired by my writing skill. They appreciated me ,gifting my book to all guests and Supriya Sule Ma’am was one of the profound part of the event. Amazing gesture by the team members of YCC ,they greeted us with compassion. The panel discussion really built my self esteem ,it seemed like I always wanted this wider yard to reach my goals. Thanks to Yashwantrao Chavan Centre from the bottom of my heart for reanimating my diary of 2023 with adding more recognition and providing platform for self advocacy.

This event is the golden era of my 2023.
